iPhone as a phone

I am ready to change phones and wireless carriers.
The iPhone seems lucrative because of connectivity.
I don't know what improvements may have been implemented since the iPhone was introduced.

My questions...

How is the the iPhone as a phone.  My current phone flips open and cradles nicely in my ear.  It would seem like talking on an iPhone would be like having a huge flat spatula held up to your ear.

Also it seems large and maybe too fragile to just shove in the front pocket of a pair of jeans.  I'd hate to always have a sport coat on just for a place to hold my iPhone.

Also, is it easy to hear from the iPhone when not using Blootooth?

Thanks,

Re: iPhone as a phone

I put the iPhone in my pocket everyday, I've dropped it on the ground from ear-level (I'm 5'10"), and I've used it in the rain.  One small blemish on the corner is all its got.  Works great as a phone, although I would recommend using BT in the car.

Re: iPhone as a phone

I love using my iPhone as an actual phone. It's not as big or uncomfortable to hold to your ear as you might think. If I know I'll be having a longer (25+ minutes) conversation, I'll plug in my headphones and talk that way - the ones that come with the iPhone have a microphone inline, so you can listen & talk. I'm too cheap to buy a Bluetooh headset.

I'm just like PHUSMC... the iPhone goes in my right front pocket, every day. No screen cover, no iPhone case, nothing. Are you a guy or girl? Girls' pants may pose a problem (pocket sizes...) but I haven't had any issues with my jeans/dress pants/shorts.

Thanks for your replies.

I'm a guy.  But I just thought the delicate glass face would easily crack in bending. But I'm encouraged by your responses that the phone is actuall pretty good.

Thanks for info.

Re: iPhone as a phone

I'll agree with everything said so far. I beat the smurf out of my iPhone and I've had not one problem. My only complaint is that it's not loud enough, but that's pretty standard for Apple, watching out for our hearing and all. Thanks, but I could really use a few more bars of volume, please.

When you have people suing you because they turn the volume up to high an damaging their ears ... what else can you do...

It's like Mickey Dees and their "hot" coffee... good now we all have cold coffee.
