Re: Got my $600
Well, one more week to go I suppose, and I still haven't gotten mine yet.

Re: Got my $600
I did get my Tax return, I'll not be getting a stimlulus check. If I did, we'd be giving it to a friend who needs it much more than we do.

Re: Got my $600
We owed $236 for last year, and I got a letter last week from the IRS saying they hadn't gotten the 2007 payment by 4/15, so now we owed that plus a penalty (around $9, iirc). I checked online, because I had made the payment electronically, but the website had defaulted to 2008 instead of 2007, so I called eftps (electronic funds transfer) and they said to call the irs and give them the acknowlegement number, and they would fix it from their end.
So I called he IRS, and it turns out that not only had they sent me a letter saying I owed a payment and penalties, they had also already removed the amount I owed from my stimulus check. What sweethearts.
I'm glad I called instead of sending in the paperwork as they requested (there was no phone number on the letter - the eftps person gave it to me).
The good news is that by not doing anything, the original $236 that was misapplied will be put towards my 2nd qtr estimated 2008 payment, so I only have to send in an additional $14 this month. So basically, even though I don't get the full $600 check, it's a wash.
It just pisses me off that a bureaucratic blunder almost caused me to send them $236 + a penalty when I didn't need to, and getting money back from them can be a difficult and drawn out process.
I'm still peeved that my husband didn't get his stimulus check, just because he didn't make any estimated payments last year, when it turns out he turned a profit after all. Albeit just enough to owe $236. If he'd taken a loss, but still paid even once, he'd have gotten a check.
The IRS person said that the tattered remains of my check would be arriving around June 13th.
I'm with adamjg, mine will probably cover bills. Things were different 4 months ago, now it will just help cover the higher cost of gas, groceries, and utilities for a month or so. I think we can safely consider them relief checks now.

Re: Got my $600
Mine is going to pay off my NewEgg Preferred Account balance and to pay off my Visa card. Then I will be debt free except for my truck loan. Woohoo!

My brother got his. I'm not getting one. I don't qualify.
