Enemy Territory QUAKE Wars

Meh.  Seems like it takes all the things I hated worst about Unreal Tournament 200x and combines with it all the things I hate worst about every RTS.

I've only had it a day or so, and have only had a couple hours to play it.  Perhaps my opinion will change.  So far, though, I'd say if you're a fan of all that UT and Quake have ever been just skip this one.

Two cents poorer...

How 'bout that, I didn't even see the Mac version ship.

IMG review here.

I played the public beta and didn't enjoy it. I can't really put a reason on it, but it felt like everything was running at 2x speed

I really didn't enjoy it either. I was an original Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory fan, and QW just didn't strike a chord with me, vehicles just sort of made the game crappy, and it didn't feel right either.

Re: Enemy Territory QUAKE Wars

Yeah, I'm wishing I had held out until (and if) my local Apple Store got ahold of Flyboys, the WWI combat flight sim.

This game sucks.  Not fun in the slightest.  I can't even seem to get it to save my progress in the single-player version.  Four times through the first mission is more than enough, thanks.  Perhaps I'm doing something wrong.  Wouldn't be the first time.  Still, when I think of Quake, this is the last thing I think of.

$50 wasted.  Damn it.  It'll be a long time coming before I have another $50 to waste on a game, even a good one.  And it'll be a cold day in Hell before I waste any more money on a "Quake" game.  Quake IV was awesome.  This is equally awesome, but on the other end of the scale.  It's awesome how much it sucks.  It's almost like they set out to make a game suck as badly as it possibly could.  If that was the goal, kudos.

Re: Enemy Territory QUAKE Wars

Yeah, I don't see how IMG gave it a score of 8.5 - did they even play the same game we are? It has a much steeper learning curve than ET or RTCW ever did, and I just despise trying to jump into a pub server and have a decent game. It's just - not fun. At all.

However, I said long ago I'd buy ET:QW if only for all the years of enjoyment I got from ET, and so I did.

Hmmm.... The Windows version seems to be ok; I kind of like the vehicles; and I think the game play is very similar to RTcW; but not quite as good.

Re: Enemy Territory QUAKE Wars

Aspyr Support is now serving up the promised version 1.5 patch for the Mac edition of Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars, bringing the think different edition of Splash Damage's multiplayer shooter in line with its PC counterpart. Thanks Gamer's Hell.
