Has anyone here used Art Rage?
Well, I'm getting a new 9x12 Intuos for comic book stuff and making background images for web pages and the like.
BTW, my old Cintiq 15 inch is up on eBay... the bleak 200:1 contrast ratio, not to mention the shift in technology prompted me to move... the new ones are great, though, but after playing with the 15x for a month now, I'm just not happy with the way the low contrast seems to kill the color.
Anyhow, I already have the Adobe CS 3 suite, and want a painting program with layers and tablet support. I've used Painter and it's great and all, but the price tag is outrageous, any way you cut it.
From what I'm seeing online, tablet support for Art Rage is supposed to be really good. The sample art posted at least lets me know it's good for rendering and adding textures, but I'd like to hear some feedback about useability from anyone here who has used it.
Also, should I expect to notice a difference in capability between the Cintiq and the Intuos? Aside from the levels of sensitivty (512 on the Cinitq vs 1024 on the Intuos) my understanding is that the new tablets no longer use the digitizer technology and have a few more capabilities built in, such as tilt recognition and the like.
I had debated, for a while, simply replacing the lcd in the Cintiq, but figure the technology jump may be worth more of my time and money.
Thanks in advance, I know it was a tangent (or two... or three...)

Re: Has anyone here used Art Rage?
Well, I'm not certain anyone is even reading this
But I picked up my new 9x12 Intuos 3.
$400, it came with the neoprene sleeve, both grip and classic pens, and the pro tip kit, with enough tips to last a lifetime.
First things first, 9x12 is a LOT of room, even with forced proportions (around 7x12).
EDIT: Eh, nevermind. I somehow remember Painter being much more expensive than it actually is...
$380 is not a lot at all. Heh, I just spent that much on my Tablet.

Re: Has anyone here used Art Rage?
I love art rage. Playing with the demo, I immediately sent it to the art teacher at the school I'm posted at and a Wacom screen tablet. The kids love it.
After playing with that, I realized that photoshop isn't a painter's program. Art Rage is definetly worth the bucks. $25!

Re: Has anyone here used Art Rage?
Well, I found a good deal on Painter X (legit, before you goons pounce on me
)
After tinkering with the ArtRage starter pack, I decided it just wasn't for me. For the projects I'm working on, I just can't get the fine-tune rendering I need (blending stumps, smudge tools, fine-tuned tool customization, anyone?), at least not in the same manner with which I can with other software. The interface is a bit foreign to me, as well. Then again, for art software, it's hard to hold a candle to Painter's robustness at all.
