Accessing mac files from windows?

Well, when I partitioned my drive, I made it so I would have access to my files from the mac (is it FAT or something?).  Anyway, this is great and all, but apparently I can't access my files from windows.  Is it just not possible, or am I not doing something right?

The default is HFS. Yes, Macs an Windows PCs can both read FAT but it sounds like there's some question as to whether that's what you really did. Get info on the drive or open up Disk Utility to see what it actually is.

MacDrive
will enable a Windows computer to access Mac files (HFS and HFS+).

Re: Accessing mac files from windows?

What's the real problem here?  Is it the way the computers store the files, or what?

I can read all mac files, even if I put them on a different hard drive from w/a mac.  WTF?

I'm just completely confused.

It is not the files . . .  it is the address ( index, catalog, whatever you want to call it) to where the files are.
[very simplistic description]

Macs use HFS = hierarchical file system
Windows  FAT = file allocation table

Computers never do what you want them to do; only what you tell them to do.

As a note of interest, you can format your windows drive for NTFS, but the Mac won't natively write to NTFS, it will read though. To get both read and write capability try NTFS for Mac OS X by Paragon Software Group. It works like a dream!
