Apple just gave out my Apple ID password because someone asked
http://blog.karppinen.fi/2008/07/apple- … ple-i.html
From the article:
I tried to log in to Apple Developer Connection this morning to find out that my password had been changed and the email associated with my account was now a yahoo.com address that wasn't mine. Luckily, my "security question" was still the same, so I was able to reset the password and email address back.
Based on the emails that have appeared in my .Mac mailbox, this was accomplished by sending this classy one-liner to Apple:
am forget my password of mac,did you give me password on new email marko.[redacted]@yahoo.com
To which Apple reacted by doing the only reasonable thing – saying Sir, Yes Sir! and handing my account over...

This is bad.

Honestly, if the grammar was better, I wouldn't have minded so much.
Bad Apple.

They should have had to answer the security question.
Although, my phone has a "security word" I can never remember. When I call customer service, they usually just laugh at me and ask for my SSN. But they never tell me what the word is.

Credit Card companies do the same.

I'm kinda having trouble believing it myself.
Although... I remember a couple years ago, a web hosting company that one of my clients used to use.... they gave out the FTP username and pswd to me without ANY verification whatsoever.

GoDaddy has done that for me on several occasions. I just shake my head and move on when they do, though...

I seriously suspect his e-mail account was phished.
Apple would have only sent it to the e-mail account associated with the account.
If his e-mail account was compromised, there's a good chance other stuff was phished as well.
