Forum login NOT for whole site?
Is this true or a glitch. I have to have a register separately for the rest of the site? Seems kinda lame.

They tried to make the two systems play nicely and it just wouldn't work.

That's hard to believe... but it answers my question. Thanks.

Re: Forum login NOT for whole site?
Oh....so I need to register again or something?
I don't really get it, though. MaximumPC lets you use both your forum login for the comments too. Aren't you guys technically the same company?

SO FUNNY, I was just thinking "...aren't the PC guys still down the hall? They could help you with the 'technical' stuff!"
lol, joke.

Yeah, you have to reregister for the site if you want the same name as you use in the forums. The forum software and the rest of the site just don't speak the same language. We tried to make it one universal login but it won't work. (Sorry about that.)
Maximum PC uses different forum software.

Honestly I wouldn't be opposed to switching board software if it could integrate the site better.

But I'm very well integrated. Do I have to be water boarded?

Re: Forum login NOT for whole site?
Get a programmer who knows what their doing, that's the real solution to the problem of not being able to use one user name/password globally. Why do you give excuses for the lack of a programmers ability to make something happen, you don't show much respect for your readers.
Also, why does a random visitor to the site have the same rights to download software from the vault as a paying subscriber, what's the incentive to continue paying a subscription. MacAddict, at least, gave a subscriber a Disc as an incentive to buy the magazine.
