And you don't have any idea how --for example-- your state senators spend 99.9999999999% of their days, yet it (hopefully) does not affect your ability to form opinions of them; that would be tragic.

Most passive "observers" of your statements would be hard pressed to think anything different than you hate Steve Jobs.

He gave the man props for putting Apple back on the map, where his predecessors have failed.  And then he expressed admiration of his software vision, which has played a key role in Apple's present success.  And then he criticized him for his faults.  In its full context, it is incorrect to interpret this as "hateful."

The words you use when talking about him are so demeaning and hurtful.  You act like he isn't an actual person.

I'm sure Jobs won't loose any sleep over it.

And I don't make personal attacks on them. I judge their votes and their policy statements. I don't use words like "OCD, fixation, hatred, deeply flawed, "take no prisoners" attitude, anal fixation, and broken" to describe them. Try to think before you make ridiculous statements that attempt to disparage me. And yes, by trying to twist what I said back at me by using (hopefully) and "that would be tragic," you are attempting to disparage me so don't come back and try to act otherwise. The attempt was lame and transparent.

I don't care how much props you give a person if in the next breath you use words like "OCD, fixation, hatred, deeply flawed, "take no prisoners" attitude, anal fixation, and broken." It kind of defeats the purpose and almost seems like a way to justify the nasty remarks that followed the "compliment."

I know that Jobs won't lose any sleep over it but that is not the point. Just because someone might not hear what you say about them does not make it okay to talk about other people like that. It brings the person saying the nasty things down to a lower level.

Is it OK for us to talk about Paris Hilton using such language?

Well, here it comes. Gizmodo sez

When we first heard about EFiX—a simple USB dongle that'll let you magically install Leopard on your PC—it sounded too fantastic to be true. Well, I used it to turn my gaming PC into a Mac Pro over the weekend, and I'm somewhat amazed to say this, but it works perfectly.

I grabbed all the updates straight from Apple—including 10.5.5 last night, so you don't have to wait for a hacked patch like you would running a typical Hackintosh—installed a whole bunch of software and have been using it for several days. It runs beautifully, just like a real Mac Pro.

Haha, I saw a review by a member on InsanelyMac, but I was afraid to post it (it's blasphemous, you know).  But as long as the door is already open, I might as well point out that you can download a free alternative called "Modified Boot 132" which yields a similar result  -- you boot the OS from a DVD, install updates, etc...  The tradeoff with Boot 132 is that's it's more "high-level" than EFI-X, meaning it's "theoretically" more susceptible to breakage from a future OS update (it's worked fine with updates so far).  Boot-132 also requires the user to enter strings for certain components like grpahics, network, and sound.  This is a one time deal, and it's easily done with a GUI program called EFI Studio.  Basically, I just wanted to say that the free alternatives are actually much better than the reviewer gives 'em credit for.  There's no need to "download patched updates," for example.  In fact, from the user's perspective, Boot-132 is almost as good as EFI-X.

Really? I was under the impression that you needed the proper kexts for your Boot-132 image before you could do the install.

EFI-X looks exciting. It also looks like it would be well worth the cost, to me anyways.

It depends on where you get it from.  Some people have made images that are ready for writing to a flash drive -- with the mot typical kexts included.  Really, only two kexts actually need to be loaded from Boot-132; one to override Apple's DSMOS, and another to override Apple's CPU power management.  You may also want a hacked AppleSMBIOS, to make your hardware show up correctly in System Profiler (I know; whoop-de-doo).  Any third party stuff (drivers, etc) can be installed normally.

Going back to the point I was making before, there's actually very little hacking taking place in hackintoshes these days.  Chameleon can load 99.9% of the OS without hacking.  Boot-132 basically takes that 0.1%, and makes it automatic.  EFI X is 100%.
