Consider the source.

All that article says is that they are "tied". My impression is that most polls have been close or giving Obama a slight lead.

So this is supposed to be news?

(say, isn't "shine" a racist remark?)

In the US, yes. In most countries, probably not.

I'd like to see real UHC. I'd like to see real fuel economy standards and environmental protection legislation. I'd like to see the end of corporate welfare. I would like the Patriot Act repealed and the telecom immunity gone from the FISA bill. I'd like to see more invested in education. I'm for same-sex marriage. I like my civil liberties. If that makes me a liberal, so be it.

But like many, I don't support every leftist cause. I support Israel. I don't support slavery reparations.

In most other countries I'd be conservative or centrist. But in the US. I get painted as a liberal more or less. Though here in SF I'm somewhat conservative. It's all relative.

Hopefully being a reasonable Democrat doesn't get him kicked out of the club (like what had happened to Lieberman, their former VP nomination).

Nothing's more "reasonable" than offering yourself up as a mouthpiece for the opposing party's administration while also campaigning for that party's presidential candidate.

by reasonable, you mean selling our previously held civil liberties down the river to big DHS and the business interests they protect?

Do you know what most voters will remember about the FISA issue?  That Obama changed his position (whatever position that was).  A decision wholly without purpose, and a missed opportunity to demonstrate some sort of leadership in the Senate.

Just abstractly ... not in reference to FISA or any other issue ... if you decide that you've been wrong in your position, shouldn't you change it?

McCain has been closing in the past few weeks, but Obama just took a slight upward turn again the past day or so.

It is, but everyone else was doing it, and my poll averages all the other polls...
