As a Touch owner and there being mostly games, I'm disappointed. So what if there is a HUGE offering of apps. It's like Windows - they mostly suck. I wanted more productivity apps that deal with iCal, among other things.

The SDK hasn't been out that long, the app store hasn't been out that long. You can't expect tons of fully developed and well thought out apps, for a platform that demands new interface paradigms.

I'm enjoying Super Monkey Ball, but it does have its flaws.  I've had to reinstall it on the iPhone already because it crashed and refused to launch again after that, which caused me to lose all progress.  And once you slip up once on any level, forget it -- the controls are too prone to what we in the aviation world call "pilot-induced oscillation" making it impossible to recover from a bad orientation.

I do enjoy the guy who wrote an app that does nothing but show a blank screen, for use as a flashlight, and had the nerve to charge a buck for it.  It has a one-star rating and many scathing reviews, yet it's still in the top 25 downloaded apps.  He's probably made a couple thousand this weekend with his six lines of code.

I'm just pissed that I deleted a few apps that I paid for. A loan app that does not allow you to put in the length of a loan for  a car loan (there is  a certain limit, like 20 years or something). Wtf is that? Delete, delete, delete. I've must have deleted like 5 apps, some free some not.

Test your product for christ sakes.

My first OS X app was Corel Draw.

It's at least as bad in the UK, since the first crop is heavily US-centric, but many don't work well either.

The 'Where' app is similarly poor - UK denizens are complaining that the application won't find any pizza restaurants within the middle of a city. Apparently this is important to those living in Blighty.

Local Picks by Tripadvisor finds restaurants and bars, but seemingly miles away from your current location.

This hack is currently sitting in reach of a dozen restaurants within a 100 metre radius, yet Local Picks insists the most local eatery is 10 miles away.

It's worse for Irish Iphone customers - they have no access to any games on the platform, at all. You can view screen shots of the missing games section on Macrumours.com.

Maybe wait a bit before splurging on untested apps?

Yeah, I didn't make that clear enough. Some are just not that good, wherever you be.

Twitteriffic from the Icon Factory http://iconfactory.com/home/permalink/2009 has both a free version and a commercial version.   I suspect there will be more of these pairs.

I'm holding off on upgrading.  I wanted to do it right away, but I would miss Pocket Touch too much.  I think I am going to hold off until it is Jailbroken.
