Boot Camp partition size and WinXP SP3
I had the partition size at 40, got every thing install, then went to update. When I got to SP3, it told me that I needed extra 4gb and quit. I did not use up the 40 gig partitions on the windows install. There was a lot left and should not have bother any updates, but it did. I try manual download and that did not work either. The hard drive size is 160, but the time formating gets done, it is really about 150. Any ideas?

Re: Boot Camp partition size and WinXP SP3
I updated XP to SP3 on my Asus eeePc with only 1.2 GB spare space on a 4GB drive. It's hard to think it's a space issue.

It's not. The Mac's partition map is just something Windows doesn't quite understand.
First, try this:
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/ … owsxp.html
Then, try this:
1. Click Start - Run - Type “regedit” and press enter.
2. Navigate to
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup]
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
\Software
\Microsoft
\Windows
\CurrentVersion
\Setup
3. In the right pane, Right-click and select New - String value
4. Name it as “BootDir” and set its value to “C:\"
(lifted from here.)

Re: Boot Camp partition size and WinXP SP3
When there is a legit space issue, it can arise from the way Windows handles updating. Most everything gets archived JIC you later want to uninstall it, incl. Service Packs. A clean XP SP3 install from a new XP SP3 disc would take up much less space than, say, an original disc that had been progressively updated with every patch and SP since. (IIRC SP3 does specify at least SP1 already in place).

It would be best to update first, then install everything.

Thanks, I got it to work. The apple update work and I did not have to tackle the regedit.
