Re: I don't understand people.

People in my complex routinely park their enormous gas guzzlers in compact car spots, usually well over one of the lines.  One individual has the audacity to often park their Mercedes right in front of the building smack in the middle of two spots.  I always park far away to avoid these idiots  because my car is brand new, but my boyfriend's car has plenty of dents and scrapes in the doors from people parking too close and hitting his car when they get out.

If I had a junker car I would be tempted to park it real close to that Mercedes on its driver side just to be annoying.

I checked and found that there is no city or county law, but it is against Illinois state law.
Maybe I'll print our copies to leave on windshields...

That's a pretty good idea.

Then, if they ball it up, throw it on the ground and STILL park on the sidewalk....it's keyin time!

This is a major irritation of mine and I fight it wherever I see it.
If a person parks their car straight, perfectly between two spots like a jerk  there is just enough space in a standard American parking lot to squish a jeep in there. The tires opposite the offender will be touching the white line, but not over it. The mirror must be squashed flat to do this. If you can find a buddy who also has a jeep to do the other side, you can keep people from getting into their car unless they go through the trunk.

Oh, and if you are the jerk in the middle spot please, oh please call the police on me. I loved the result the last time it happened. I would love to see another person get a ticket for double parking.

The problem I have with discussing freedom is that people have been conditioned to expect "of me to tell you what to do" to follow it... inevitably they notice I don't ever get to that part, and they feel like I am trying to trick them.

I had an old boss who used to do that because he didn't want anyone parking next to him.  Seems to work, I guess.  shrug

I can guarantee it is illegal since it blocks wheelchair access to the sidewalk.

Sounds like a fascinating sociology experiment. Kinda like saying people with red cars are more apt to speed. Are they?

Re: I don't understand people.

There's a difference in saying speeders are more likely to buy red cars and people who buy red cars are more apt to speed. However, it would be a fascinating sociology experiment as you put it.

Re: I don't understand people.

A couple months ago there was a glitzy white Cadillac (I forget their stupid vanity plate, meant to remember if for all time, but it was something denoting the owner's Italian heritage), that was parked at the cross point of FOUR parking spots at the Coney Island Aquarium. Yea, this is a parking douchebag X2, and he is no-doubt proud of his douchebag ways.

We reported the car to the parking lot operators (it isn't a free lot), I was praying that action would be taken, but highly doubt it.

Yes.

I work in insurance, it's quite fascinating what data has been mined on stuff like that, over the years. If two twin brothers, eighteen years old, both buy the same make and model sports car, one red, one white, the brother with the red car will pay more for insurance than his twin in the white car.

That could be an interesting study, but how would you quantify levels of assholishness?
