Need help/tips on getting a Mac! :D

Hey everyone! First post here, but I saw the magazine at the grocery store and thought I would check it out. Anyways...

I am currently working on saving up for a MacBook Pro. big_smile It's extremely hard, and I cannot get a job, so that's even worse. I'm currently working on selling advertisement space for the lid of my soon-to-be laptop so I can get it. The ads will be permanently laser engraved into the lid. I'm going to be using it for music production and live shows. It'll be shown around Cincinnati a lot! smile

So I've come to you all with jealous eyes, who most likely own a Mac already. Does anyone have any tips for someone who cannot get a job on how to save money for one? Or hey, would you like to purchase advertisement space?
Thanks for all the information, and kindness in advance. big_smile

Look on the main page of the Apple store. There are refurbs and other good deals on all Mac computers there. That should help. The link is in the lower left corner. Go to Apple, Store, and look in lower left.

On getting money, I have no suggestions.

When you do buy your Mac, set up your purchase with the least amount of RAM and (sometimes) hard drive space configurable. While Apple has gotten better, their prices for those hardware upgrades are too high. Go with a third-party seller like Other World Computing to get such. You can easily see that Apple charges about twice that other companies do for RAM, and while the hard drives are about comparable you should note that you do NOT get the other hard drive from Apple if you choose to upgrade the hard drive--thus you can take the original drive and use it for backups/transfers/etc.

To get info on replacing such parts on Apple laptops, check the iFixIt Guides.
