Sorry if this has been mentioned, but...

I'd like access to the old forum. not to post or anything, but read-only (for quoting purposes mainly). It would be nice, and I know the old forum still exists somewhere. Doesn't it?

That would be pretty cool. Actually, atodd, if you knwo exactly what you are looking for, you may be able to find it with google's advanced search. You can still poke around in the old forums (thread by thread). You can't navigate it very well, or acutally, navigate it really at all because the cgi scripts that drive it seem to be disabled, but it's still there.

For example, I found this thread you posted in the Games forum about your video card last July:

We might eventually do something about this, but right now, it isn't our top priority.

I'm not asking for them to be built-in to the new forums, I'd just like the cgi scripts to be turned back on (except the post reply/newtopic ones). How hard can it be?

As long as you aren't lookimg for any posts that are defamatory to the Church of Scientology, can't you just use Archive.org?

You can use web.archive.org to get to the forums, but not everything works, i.e. you can't search or anything, and you can't view any version newer than about September 2001.

you know, Im sure there is a lot of good info in the old forums and old humor that people would love to relive, but I think there also might be a couple reasons not to open them up, mainly being an attempt to avoid old drama and flame wars. I dont really know about the rest of the forums, because I didnt leave the clan forums much before we moved to X, but I think there is a lot of "dead" arguments in there that are best kept that way.

shrug I wasnt there for most of it, I dont know all, Im just your average dumb blonde, but that is the impression I have gotten. tongue

Those look fine to me. And they're static html files in any case, cgi has nothing to do with it.
