Files on other drives, accessed thru OSX standard folders
I have discussed this in the past, but I don't think I was very clear. I am considering having all my files (documents, pictures, music, etc) on a second drive, but would like the standard system folders for these items located in the standard user folder in OSX, and to work as usual, just "reaching" to other drive, not the system drive. This would also be the case for applications that set up libraries, like iPhoto, iTunes, and Aperture, to name a few. Is there a proper way to do this that does not require a bunch of maintenance. To any user, I would like the computer act as if the files were on the system drive.
Seems easier during loading the system than afer it is already set up and running for some time with everything on the system drive.
Does this make sense? I know some you advamced users have done this for space or other reasons. What rules should I follow?
Thanks

Bingo!

Terrific, that's the idea, and even the reason!
Performance was the initial motivator, but then all the other issues came to mind as well. I did my PCs that way all the time, but I managed them myself because I did not like Microsoft's filing system. Since the Mac has an excellent filing system, i wanted to use it.
Thanks a lot!
