Best old mac
Sorry if in wrong forum this is the best fit
I am looking to buy a 2nd user mac , I have a Windows Laptop as my main PC and used macs previously and looking for a cheap one for personal browsing some webdesign and database stuff.
So looking on line and I have 2 options an Emac at 1.2ghz 512m or a power mac at 2 x 450mhz 512m
what would be the faster / better both the Emac is a G4 and the power mac is a G3 I belive.
Any suggestions

FYI: if the PowerMac is a dual 450, then it is definitely a G4.
Given these two choices, personally I would go with the PowerMac since it has more upgrading potential: more slots for add-in cards or better video, more space for an additional drive or two, even the CPU could be upgraded to better than the one in the eMac. If not going the upgrading route, then I would choose the eMac.
You might consider the Mac mini. While somewhat limited in some ways, it will be a much more capable Mac than either of your choices.
You should check the refurbished Macs as well (go to apple.com, click on the Store link, scroll to the bottom and click on "Refurbished Macs" near the bottom of the left column--dang WebObjects that time out links). Note that the Mac available here get changed every couple of days, so if a model you are interested in (such as a Mac mini) isn't there now, take a look in a day or two.

Yes I agree those refurbished Macs from apple are quite nice also, they are under warranty also.
