web host recs?
Hi all;
I need to find a new web host, and wondered if anyone had recommendations. I've had my current host for years and loved them, but recently they've had a string of outages, tech problems and billing issues, combined with very bad communications, and the time has come. I have 3 sites (my own and 2 clients), all very simple and straightforward. No need for any advanced services, etc, but would like great tech/customer support. Has anyone used HostMonster? Or GoDaddy?
Anyhow, if anyone has any suggestions, thanks in advance.

Re: web host recs?
Go Daddy has worked just fine for me, although their web applications and site are kind of a mess.

I have found http://www.ovh.com to be cheap and reliable. They also have good tools, sql etc etc.
edit: for instance, I use this: http://www.ovh.co.uk/individual/products/60gp.xml (french edition though)
600MB host, 20GB bandwidth/month, etc; for 20$/year.

I've used webhostingbuzz.com for several years. Their service has been great. Their support is very quick, and the price is very inexpensive too.

If you need good 'ol commodity hosting then check out bluehost.com. If I recall correctly, they're the same as hostmonster (like, same same owner, same tech support, same datacenter).

Here's a plug for http://www.HostGator.com
I use them for my personal website and my orchestra's. In four years I've never had any downtime, and their online support chat guys have always been able to resolve my issues right away. They're not the absolute cheapest, but I think the service is terrific.

Re: web host recs?
In the same vein--do any of these include IMAP email in their costs? I have GoDaddy and have for 4 years but they just changed SOMETHING and now if I want my IMAP back I have to fork over $20 a year.

Re: web host recs?
Thanks guys, Hi to some of you I haven't pestered in a while
Question for you:
How do I go about switching this stuff over? Do I set up the new stuff at the new place and then log in to godaddy and cancel my hosting? How do I make sure my email still functions in the meantime and I don't go horribly awry?
Can you tell I don't know what the hell I am doing?

Re: web host recs?
So when you set up your new host, you need to change your name servers to point to the new IP. Leave the old host active for a week (to be safe), then everything should have transferred over and you can safely cancel the old account. Obviously before you cancel everything, make sure everything works (incl. e-mail) and all your data on the old host is backed up (incl. e-mail).
