mrreet and Mac Mini Core Solo with QuickFold installer

Does this not work on Core Solo mac minis? For the life of me I can't get it started on the computer.

Re: mrreet and Mac Mini Core Solo with QuickFold installer

No. It will not work. The minimum requirement for SMP on an Intel Mac is a Core Duo. A Core Solo does not have SMP (Symmetric Multiprocessing) capability and would not make deadlines. The minimum for the SMP client would be a Core Duo 1.66GHz, and even that would be pushing it to make final deadlines if it is used heavily during the day.

So does that mean it can't be used for folding at all then? or is there another client I can use?

I think a PPC client is worth a shot.

QuickFold installer for PPC Macs  http://geek.thinkunique.org/wp-content/ … ckfold.dmg

written by our own ArtemisG3

Let me know if it works or not.   One way or another, we can hack it.   The QF installer is good because it installs the terminal commands.

BUT ---- I think Intel Macs use a different "daemon" structure than Intel Macs.

Let me repost at Support Forums.

Your production was as high as 5,000 points per day on a 7-8 day average.  Currently at 2,100 points per day.

I'll mention it as a needed bug fix to the powers that be.
