Caoimhin stop and start

I can't seem to figure out why I've stopped! The last unit to complete would not upload and after deleting / reinstalling everything to do with folding, I can't download a unit. I get the following message in FAHLog:

[06:17:17] + Attempting to get work packet
[06:17:17] - Will indicate memory of 4096 MB
[06:17:17] - Connecting to assignment server
[06:17:17] Connecting to http://assign.stanford.edu:8080/
[06:17:17] Posted data.
[06:17:17] Initial: 40AB; - Successful: assigned to (171.64.65.56).
[06:17:17] + News From Folding@Home: Welcome to Folding@Home
[06:17:18] Loaded queue successfully.
[06:17:18] Connecting to http://171.64.65.56:8080/
[06:17:18] - Couldn't send HTTP request to server
[06:17:18]   (Got status 503)
[06:17:18] + Could not connect to Work Server
[06:17:18] - Attempt #8  to get work failed, and no other work to do.
Waiting before retry.

Never mind, it just started! Go figure.

I hope everybody had a great holiday.

Re: Caoimhin stop and start

It might be a function of your particular computer.  For example, my main machine is an Intel Mac and it only goes for SMP proteins.   It might be that SMP proteins are on a certain server and there's a goodly supply of them plus the server is a stable one.   Your Stanford server might have been the flaky issue.

I'm sure you'll be up over 1,000 pts per day in no time.  up

Nothing since. NO progress. Does anyone have a clue? For reference, I'm running on a 2.8GHz iMac (1 year old), OS X 10.5.6, 4GB RAM. I'm using InCrease to run / monitor FAH. My 3 year old MBP 2.0GHz 2GB RAM, same OS is running InCrease / Folding just fine (although quite slow).

BTE, How many invocations of "FahCore_a1_exe" should I be running with this iMac? Activity Monitor shows 4, But, I think it should be 2. One Core 2 Duo processor, 2 cores, Right?

Re: Caoimhin stop and start

I don't see anything wrong with the portion of the log you included. It is not uncommon for the client to try to send units while working on the next protein.

In the header of the FAHlog.txt, be sure it doesn't say that the client is expired.

Re: Caoimhin stop and start

Thanks, guys. It is now working and is at 76% complete. I still don't understand why it stopped or why it took so long to start up again. confused
