Extracting files from hierarchy of folders into a single folder
I have a lot of files in hierarchical folders, and I want to extract them all into a single folder (no hierarchy). I don't want to do this manually (it will take hours). Is there any way to do this in some sort of batch operation?

You could do a search in the folder for all files older than tomorrow. That should list all the files so you can copy them out.

When I have to do it, I'm usually pulling a crapload of InDesign files out of a folder structure so I just search for indd. Same deal tho. You just have to think of something that all the files you want have in common.

Along these lines, there might be a Smart Folder option for you as well.
Using List View is awesome: you can use keyboard shortcuts to open nested folders: select all folders at the root of the folder you're working with, either manually or with Cmd-A (if the root folder is filled only with other folders), and use Cmd-Right Arrow to open all folders one level down (and Cmd-Left Arrow to close them again), or Cmd-Opt-Right Arrow to open ALL nested folders. There's really nothing like it. Good luck.
