New MacBook Pro!!

I sold some stuff and my old Macbook and took the plunge.  A little buyer's remorse but, I have to admit, this sure is a nice laptop.  The best I ever had.

Re: New MacBook Pro!!

welcome! I'm also amazed at this machine. There are still a few things I'm trying to figure out, like are there still function keystrokes associated with the numerical keypad or did they do away with that? I use that occasionally and now it seems to be gone or changed. That and working around the firewire port issues, and a new express card slot issue I ran into, it's a slight bump in workflow for a "pro" machine but it's all part of the game of updates and upgrades.

Re: New MacBook Pro!!

A day and a half with it and I'm liking it!  Still need to master the touchpad.  Also I somehow borked my external back up.

Re: New MacBook Pro!!

oh hey this sucks, embedded numeric keys functionality has been eliminated. Great, now I have to get like a bluetooth breakout keypad to use software specific shortcuts. Thanks Apple, Pro machine my foot.

Re: New MacBook Pro!!

Anybody use those Invisible Shields?  I'm thinking that would be a good idea relative to the palmrest and my wristwatch.

Re: New MacBook Pro!!

I've bought Invisible Shields for 2 older cellphones, my iPhone, 3 iPods, and 4 digital cameras. Hell, I even bought $100 worth of ZAGG stock with some extra cash in my ETrade account, though that hasn't worked nearly as well for me as their actual products have.

Yeah. I like Invisible Shields OK, I guess. wink

Zagg says that they "increase grip."  What does that mean?  Kind of sticky?

Re: New MacBook Pro!!

Not necessarily I think it is less smooth and slightly elastic which can decrease slippage due to increased friction rather than adhesion.

Re: New MacBook Pro!!

Congrats, Cobalt! Nothing like a new Mac laptop; I've had zilcho problems with each one I've owned. Is this the new one-piece item?

Thanks!  Yup, this is the newest model.   I'm really liking it.  The screen is not a problem.  I sold my old Macbook and a few other items.  So, altogether, I wasn't too much out of pocket for the unit.  The speakers are quite an improvement over the old Macbook.  I think I'll buy an Airport Express sometime in the future and go wireless.
