Remote access

I have recently made the switch from pc to Imac... I jumped in with both feet and purchased two, one for my home office and one for my portrait studio.  I am trying to set up remote access from home to work, and cannot get in.  I have set the information through sharing, but must be missing something... can anyone help?

Re: Remote access

If you have a router/firewall, you'll need to make sure you direct/open port 5900 for your iMacs.  I didn't have to do anything beyond that for my Mac Pro in my home office.

Re: Remote access

I have two new Imacs.  I set them up side by side at first to enable the sharing remote management the same on both computers.  I have brought my home office computer home to try to log back into the studio... no luck.  I was told to go to address line at enter ssh galleria@IP adress... I have done that and it comes up can not connect to server or server not found.... Am I trying to sign in wrong?  On my homw Imac in the sharing area it does list my Imac but when I go to it directly to connect as user, it say I cannot connect... I am sure I am missing something probably cery simple.  Could you give me step by step basic instructions for signing on remotely?  Thank you so much for you help.

Re: Remote access

The big question is do you an IT department? If so you may not be able to share your office Mac. If you do have an IT department, ask them if you can establish a VPN connection.
