Do we really need an 'Edited' notification on posts without replies?

I can understand adding a notice to the bottom of a topic posting once someone has replied, as it would indicate a retraction or altering of some sort due to a response, but if there's no response, do we really need to know a post was edited?

I thought it showed up after anyone had viewed a post, whether someone had posted or not.

Does it really bug you?

Yeah. I mean, most of the time when I edit, it's for a typo or something dumb. I don't think everyone needs a notification for that. Maybe I should just make better use of the preview option, but god forbid I want to just use the quick post option, then need to edit something simple afterward. Not everyone needs to know about it, unless, of course, someone has responded. It's not a big deal, no, but it would be nice if it functioned a little differently.

I would be happy with a delay ... say you post something and you fix it within a minute it doesn't show as edited ..  another forum I visit works like that.

No one who might read this has the ability to change that behavior.

And even if I had that ability, I wouldn't know how.
