iMovie Rant
So the new iMovie thats part of iLife 09 gives you the option to import your HD videos as 1920 x 1080i only to than have your export option limited to a quality below that of 720i at only 960 x 540? It does not matter what export option you pick or if you have QT Pro, your highest is limited to 960 x 540.
So I go & get me my trusty iLife 06 install disc and install iMovie HD with all the software updates and run into another problem. The problem isn't video related this time, it's audio. If I grab a music track from the file browser it will not load it into iMovie. Giving me a dialogue about my computer not authorized to play it click here to go to iTunes and authorize. Well I can't authorize it because my computer is already authorized to play it!
The reason, the music files are imprinted with my old Apple ID email address. When you change your email for your Apple ID so goes your login. Now iTunes is smart enough to know that the old account login info stored in the protected files has been updated and recognizes the new Apple ID login no problem. However iMovie HD isn't so brainy and keeps slapping your wrist.
Oh yeah, the real funny thing is that the media browser in iMovie HD plays all the files just fine with no problems!
The solution for iMovie HD is to pay $$$ to upgrade the files to iTunes+ Also it should be noted that this brain fart only happens in iMovie HD, as the new iMovie imports the protected files just fine (but it still doesn't let you export HD video content!)

Re: iMovie Rant
You have to use the "Export using Quick Time" in the Share menu
It well let you export as whatever codec you have.
