Question regarding Parellels and Windows XP
Hi Everyone:
I have a new IMAC and just love it. I had Windows XP with Parallels 3.0 down loaded into my IMAC before I received it. I am not very thrilled with Parallels. It does not interface well with the software I need to run. My questions is I want to delete both Windows XP and Parallels 3.0 from my Mac and then re-install Windows using Boot Camp. Being a newbie with Mac my question concerns deleting programs on a Mac. On a PC you have to uninstall programs using the windows uninstall program. What would be the correct procedure to use in removing XP and Parallels from my Mac.
Any help with this would be very much appreciated.

Delete the Parallels program by dumping it into the trash and emptying.
I think that parallels has an option to delete it's virtual disk, which will delete all of the Windows items.

Thank you for the reply. If I do as you suggest trash the Parallels Folder will it also delete Windows XP as well so I can do a fresh install?

Oh, yes. Here is the thing. Deleting the Parallels program removes the Mac side program. Getting rid of the partition/virtual folder where the Windows "disk" resides gets rid of ALL of the Windows items, in total.
You would have to reinstall Parallels, or VMFusion, or run Bootcamp and then reinstall Windows, and all of your programs.
NOTE: Copy all of your data files that you want to keep BEFORE deleting the Windows virtual disk.

Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but I need to delete Parallels and everything associated with it. I need the HD space, and I never use it. How do I delete the partition so I know all the Windows related stuff is gone too?

Ok, did you create a boot camp partition or just the virtual disk for Parallels?
If you simply used the Parallels virtual disk, find that folder that contains the files for that disk. Then send it to the trash.
Drag the Parallels application to the trash as well.

Further clarification.
* You can remove a virtual machine by means of the "Delete" wizard available via File menu
* Also you can completely remove manually any existing virtual machine by deleting its files. By default, they are stored at Mac HD - Users - <your user account folder> - Documents - Parallels folder.

Mac HD - Users - <your user account folder> - Documents - Virtual Machines (folder)
