safe fonts for Mac & Pc for the web?
Can anyone shed any light on safe fonts for Mac & Pc for the web? I always seem to be using Arial but I am getting really bored with Arial.
I am guessing that there are issues with browser versions etc too?
that's the solution here please as I really would like to try some different fonts.

Re: safe fonts for Mac & Pc for the web?
The MS core web and the Adobe Base 35 are generally safe (much of the core web is compat with Adobe Base 35 - IE Arial and Helvetica are fairly similar, Courier and Courier New, etc.)
I suspect the MS Office fonts are also generally safe, even though not everyone has office.
If (like me) you really like Monaco - an alternate that is almost the same (same designer) is Lucida Mono - I have it installed (purchased) on Linux but I don't know how many non mac users have an equivalent - but you can do something like:
font-family: Monaco, 'Lucida Mono', courier, monospace;
same concept can be used for any font -
font-family: 'Your choice', 'similar to your choice', 'something from MS core web or Adobe Base 35, IE Helvetica/Arial', sans-serif';
