Airport does not see PC
For almost a year, I have had zero problems with my Internet connections via an Airport Extreme for my MacPro Tower, a G5 iMac, and a Lenovo PC (sorry!) laptop. With the MacPro I could access the Internet either with OS 10.5.6, or with Windows Vista while logged in with Bootcamp.
Yesterday changed everything. For some reason, I lost the Internet connection. Two hours later after much mucking about, I finally got reconnected. In the process I think I also installed an update (7.4.1) to the Airport firmware. (After fighting these problems for a while, things tend to get blurry!) However, I find that now I cannot make connections through the Airport Extreme with either of the Windows systems - the diagnosis diagram shows a disconnect between the Airport and the Internet. But, if I connect directly to the DSL modem using either system, everything works just dandy.
I am definitely not conversant with the many details of Internet settings, but normally I can blunder about until something works. However, this one has me stumped. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Dave

Re: Airport does not see PC
Update: After floundering with trying to restore my Internet connections to my Mac and PC installations, I read lots of forum postings and noticed several people reverting to earlier versions of the AirPort Extreme firmware. I downgraded to version 7.3.2, and was able to get limited success with my Mac computers, but the PCs could only connect to the base station, and could not advance through the gateway to achieve an Internet connection.
I decided to downgrade even further, and had immediate success. As soon as I downgraded to version 7.0, the Airport Extreme restarted and immediately gave me Internet connections from the G5 iMac (OS 10.4.11), the MacPro Tower (both OS 10.5.6 and Windows Vista Home Premium via BootCamp), the Lenovo laptop (Vista Home Premium), and our Nintendo Wii.
Lesson learned: If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
