iphoto is losing my pictures
Hello all.
my iphoto 08 is losing my pictures. Specifically the thumbnails for the photos in the events show up but when I click on the thumbnails all I get is a picture of a white circle with a black exclamation mark.
Currently I have just over 30 events and 6000 pictures on iphoto and this disappearing picture act is only occurring in four events. I have been able to go through my iphoto folders and locate a few of the original copies so I know they are still on my computer but I don't know how to make iphoto make that connection. Nor do I want to have to browse through 6000 photo's to find a hundred (or so) pictures that have disappeared, is there any easy fix for this? and has anyone else had this problem?

Re: iphoto is losing my pictures
Similar problem here except when I click on a thumbnail I just get a black window. Tried new user and maintenance scripts but nothing changes. Graphic converter seems to be able to open the pictures. Any ideas out there?

Re: iphoto is losing my pictures
I have the same problem and lot's more pictures. Yesterday I found that in addition to some thumbs when clicked on I get the ugly black screen with the exclamation mark now I also get with some thumbnails I get a different pic form a different event. The only way I fixed the problem was to delete the entire library and start over which took days. I don't think but not sure that I had not had the problem again until I moved my iphoto library to a external hard drive because it was getting too big for my iMac hard drive.
When I switched to a Mac a couple years ago I had the same problem and have backed up all my photos to a external hard drive. I don't trust iPhoto and after yesterday ready to try something else.
Does anyone know of an alternative photo organizing software program? I have photoshop for editing so not to concerned about that. Just want to be able to store photos so you actually can see where the photo is stored and copy and back them up to a separate place without having to back up the entire iPhoto library.
