Craigslist to drop "Erotic Services" section
Link
Basically the Craigslist killer out cry caused gave some politicians something to grandstand about.
Personally, I don't think this is a good idea. It isn't stopping prostitution, it's just fragmenting it more across the web. It seems like it is a better idea to keep it as centralized as possible. The devil you know is better than the devil you don't.

Re: Craigslist to drop "Erotic Services" section
There was no outcry when the girl disappeared who was answering a craiglist ad for a nanny. At least against craigslist. It's just a classifieds site, after all.
Sex makes it outrage-worthy, I guess.

The personals section is still there.

I notice the Boston Craigslist page has an "adult" page in addition to the rest. Not sure what the difference will be.
I wonder if this will apply to Craigslist pages outside the US?

Some of the state DAs were going after Craigslist for pimpin' long before the Boston murder.
But, yah, this should pretty much put an end to prostitution and crimes against prostitutes.

Re: Craigslist to drop "Erotic Services" section
Realistically though, the "erotic services" section was (despite a disclaimer) blatant prostitution ads and prostitution is illegal in most places.
I mean, there's nothing at all subtle or circuitous about

Wow, are salaries in the Navy really that low?
It is an odd thing, but every one who disappears is said to be seen at San Francisco. It must be a delightful city, and possess all the attractions of the next world.
