looking for a little set-up help. my newbie disclaimer: I've never set up personal file sharing or remotely accessed my home network. (even though I've used macs for over 15 years)

I have a 15" PB G4 (1.5 ghz) that I'd like to use as a file server on my network.  The main thing is having the ability to access one particular folder at any time, from anywhere. (quickbooks file)

So, here's where I think I'm going...can anyone confirm or correct me?

set energy saver to never sleep for HD.
either plug into my airport express or have on wireless network

do I have to open a port to allow myself and 2 other users access to the quickbooks file?
do we VPN in to the machine?
how do I keep the rest of my network secure and away from my other 2 users

So basically, all we need is to have access to a file 24/7 on this spare computer and make sure the 3 people are all working off the same version of the file




Here is the hardware I'm working with:
PowerBook G4 1.5 ghz (spare computer)
500gb time capsule
1 airport express
MBP 2.4 ghz (main computer)
