Sticking some CCFL behind the second fan of a Mac Pro
I once did a CCFL job on a PowerMac G5
and then another one a Mac Pro 'early 2008' eight-core Xeon:
But I didn't know how to reach the lower fan. Turns out it's a matter of taking away the small aluminium shield in the middle (just a few small magnets keep it in place) and two screws in the fan case. Then you can easily slide it out — and melt glue another 80 mm CCFL circle to it!
The trick is to keep the CCFL wires away from the fan wires, else the fan or the temperature sensor gets too much induction from the high voltage and your Mac will get it's fans blowing full speed as a precaution.
