MacBook HD upgrade
I am sure this has been asked before, but I here it goes. I want to upgrade my HD on my Intel MacBook. The question is, can I use the OSX disk, and my most recent backup from my Time Capsule to setup the new HD?

Re: MacBook HD upgrade
or you could buy a kit OWC (macsales.com) sells them ... that includes a new drive and an external inclosure for you old one.

Re: MacBook HD upgrade
Thanks for your help! One last question, does the kit allow you to transfer the data before you switch hard drives?

Re: MacBook HD upgrade
-put the new drive in the enclosure
-boot up the computer as normal
-use something like CCC (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/13260) to copy everything to the external
-swap the drives.

Re: MacBook HD upgrade
You can use Carbon Copy cloner (that's what we would normally do) however you can also do a fresh install off of your disks and one of the options during install is "restore from a Time Machine Backup" (you would then connect your old hd via enclosure) and that would work too.
CCC can be a little finicky sometime and data migration works great as another option.
