your plan would cost you 109.99 for the 3G

Good to know. I wonder what the next version of the iPhone is gonna do to pricing then. I hope it stays the same as I am wanting to get the next model.

Re: Just got an iPhone

If it is a 4G network phone I would expect the price to go up. The 4G laptop card for sprint is 79 a month. eek up from 59.. But then again you do get unlimited data while on 4G... BUt who knows what route ATT will take.
If it's still a 3G I would assume the price would stay the same ...but... ATT may charge more for tethering  and MMS could increase the price of texting. shrug

What has changed regarding the calling plans?

I have 900 anytime minutes for $59.99 per month. I have unlimited data and unlimited texts for an additional $40.00 per month for a grand total of $99.99. I don't find this unreasonable at all.

Is there going to be some sort of insane price increase for the new iPhone that I am unaware of?

Fill me in. I'm really curious now.

My iPhone is a year and a half old.

My plan: 450 min., 5000 nights, 200 texts, unlimited web, $40 + $20 = $60

Current 3G plan: 450 min., 5000 nights, 200 texts, unlimited web, $70 + $5 = $75

I'm just saying I don't care for this trend. The original plan included the texts in with your minutes for $40. The $20 was for the unlimited internet access which makes the iPhone usable. The current plans do not include any text messaging and start at $70! 200 texts are $5 and unlimited is $20. I would like to see at&t trend the opposite way by lowering all their packages. Their "all you can eat" package is $130 when I think everyone else is offering that for $100?

There are some ads from Sprint featuring a new 4G network. I guess ATT will create one to compete with them and so will the others. Apple will be forced to create an Iphone compatible with a 4G network. It is the most probable likely event. Given Apple is working on OS 3.0 the new hardware could come after they launch it making  4G even more of a possibility.

The 4G ATT networks won't be available for a few more years.

Sprint 4G is available in baltimore
VZW claims it will go live in 2010
ATT seems to be 2011

Bummer. ATT has the best reception in PR.

Re: Just got an iPhone

Here's a thing I learned about my iPhone and WiFi connection.

Temporarily, I'm not using my Airport Base Station cuz I have the iMac hooked directly to the cable modem.  So, I enable internet sharing and attempt to connect to the internet via the iMac.  But no.   Because my firewall was not set to allow ALL connections, I couldn't get any response (or so it seemed) thru the iMac.   After opening the firewall to ALL, I can get on.

I would have thought that with no password on the iMac Internet Sharing that I could get on.  Not only that, this is the Mac that I sync with iTunes.

Re: Just got an iPhone

so long as this thread is here I suggest anyone using an ATT iphone get the free Cell Minute Tracker app, you enter in some info and get a free registration at PageOnce and then you can see your ATT billing info and usage stats, I use it and it works really well. I suggest you get it now because it normally cost 99 cents, itʻs currently on sale for free. enjoy your iPhone smile

Re: Just got an iPhone

I got the same one 2 days ago. But we are having problems with my dad's phone. It can acces the internet using wifi but it can't with edge or 3G. We've tried everything and the one thing that seems to work is using my sim card on his phone.

Re: Just got an iPhone

Just bought two iPhones, I put them on a shared 1400 minute plan for $150.00 per month. I was paying $69.00 for each of the old phones with Nextel. Not sure if the minutes are enough but all ATT calls are free and if any time is left it will roll over. We'll see how it works out.

Re: Just got an iPhone

If they did you would only have to pay for minutes once a year.

Re: Just got an iPhone

Decided 1400 minutes isn't enough, changed to 2100 for $20.00 more.
Unlimited is $260.00 a month for two phones.

Re: Just got an iPhone

I don't understand how my $80 plan, without going over on any features, is actually a $140 plan with taxes and surcharges. Shouldn't it be called a $140 plan?

Well they break it all down for you so you can see where your money is going. Ain't no way $60 is going to taxes and surcharges. Are you including the unlimited data in your $80 number? Text messaging? What else ya got?

Re: Just got an iPhone

Just downloaded the att app, it looks like an 80 dollar plan plus 30 for data plus 5 for 200 texts plus taxes and whatnot.
