G5-ethernet-wirelessrouter-airportexpress?

So i've got this idea that i can grab an airport express to plug in by the stereo, and use my iphone as a remote for the itunes library on my G5 in the office. seems like a good idea.

The G5 doesn't have a wireless card, it's cabled to the router, which is wireless for two laptops. so the question is, can i add the Airport Express to the network and make this happen? seems some people say yes, some people say no.

Has this improved in recent years? can i select airtunes for my G5 and it'll see the Airport Express via the wireless network? all three computers see each other and share merrily across the network, so it seems it shouldn't be a problem, but am i going to strike some conflict or apple only works with apple issue?

Foolishly i'm posting this from work and can't remember the name of my router, but i got it about a year ago, from my broadband provider so it's probably not the flashest, but it does the job.

As an aside, there are at times about 20 routers that appear on my list, is it likely they'll be causing interference or affecting my wireless signal? i get dropped off on the laptops every now and then, but it eventually comes back.

Theoretically, yes.

Change the channel on your router to a less used channel.

I have no idea. You're on your own until someone with more knowledge posts.

Re: G5-ethernet-wirelessrouter-airportexpress?

thanks Sturner, i don't think i'm any closer to knowing yet, but i'm keen to find a 'less-used' channel, unfortunately, i'm not sure what all these other routers are using. Would something like that old istumbler or whatever it was called sniff that info for me? in a perfect world none of them will be using a particular channel and i'll be sweet...
