Does this mean I can lock the thread because of your trolling?

What is the difference between Vista and OSX?

Nonsense. Dedicated DOS/Amiga/Be geeks
would've upped 'Other' to at least 2%.

Whichever OS I happen to be using at this moment is the best.

Once a year, whether I need it or not.

No, no- is it still the best, even while, not after- that was the question.

Honestly?
No. An XP installation is a lousy way to spend an afternoon. Not because it's difficult, but because the pithy marketing statements that flash across your screen while the computer is doing it's thing turn your brain to mush. I haven't installed Vista from scratch yet, so I don't know if it has the same problem.
Also, requiring a floppy drive for RAID drivers sucks.

Re: Which operating system is the best?
Yeah, that's pretty much my memory. I haven't done it for 5 years, tho, so I'm hoping having SP3 slipstreamed in, coupled with most of my hardware being not exactly new, will ease the added complexity of installing additional chipset drivers etc. Update video drivers, 1-2 others and I should be ready to start adding and updating the extras like current Java runtimes. And SP3 doesn't need an ID# nor activation for 30 days, so I can have it finalized before saying 'ok, let's reg this puppy, we're good to go.'
Maybe I'll 'save' Vista for another box and go straight to 7 RC1 for the dual-boot. If it's no go I have a fallback; wipe the partition and redo.

But that's the fun part.

It'd be funner if I could remember what all I used to know, when I did that sort of thing frequently.
Say, who are you, again..?

Re: Which operating system is the best?
I always have a backup nowdays of the system. It's from a clean install, imaged, just like they do in the best IT departments, so I can reinstall my base system without all of the effort of re-authorizing Windows. Again.
