Announced - S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat

GSC Game World has just announced...

GSC Game World is glad to announce a new project in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series – S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat (working title) for PC.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat will become a third stand-alone game in the highly-acclaimed Survival FPS S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series. The project is slanted for release in autumn 2009.

The events of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat unfold shortly after the end of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. Having discovered about the open path to the Zone center, the government decides to hold a large-scale military "Fairway" operation aimed to take the CNPP under control.

According to the operation's plan, the first military group is to conduct an air scouting of the territory to map out the detailed layouts of anomalous fields location. Thereafter, making use of the maps, the main military forces are to be dispatched.

Despite thorough preparations, the operation fails. Most of the avant-garde helicopters crash. In order to collect information on reasons behind the operation failure, Ukraine's Security Service send their agent into the Zone center. From now on everything depends on the player.

Key Features:

Photorealistic exclusion Zone – Pripyat town, Yanov railway station, Jupiter factory, Kopachi village and more, recreated by their true-to-life prototypes.
New story, a number of unique characters.
Extended system of side quests.
New monsters: Chimera and Burer. New behaviour and abilities for all monsters.
New A-Life system, created using the players' best-liked elements of the first two games in series.
Emissions considerably influence the world of the Zone.
Sleep function added into the game.
New player’s interface.
Possibility to continue the game after completion in a freeplay mode.
The game is developed on X-Ray engine v.1.6

You know what that means, user- X-Ray 1.6, photorealism...

...it's upgrade time. twisted At least you kan haz naps. Dv will demonstrate.

Make that REALLY upgrade time, user.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat Interview, Specs [Jun 14, 2009, 2:20 pm ET]

The S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat interview on PC Games is the English version of a conversation that's also available in German chatting with Oleg Yavorsky of GSC Game World about their upcoming installment in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series of irradiated first-person shooters. They go into some detail about this project, and Oleg also grants that they have plans for a full-blown S.T.A.L.K.E.R. sequel, but he dismisses speculation they are set on the CryEngine for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 as "pure rumor." He also outlines the system specifications for Call of Pripyat:

No exact ship date so far, but we expect to get the game out this Autumn already. The game should be pretty playable on a machine like:

- Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 / AMD 64 X2 5600+
- 2 GB RAM
- 512 MB DirectX® 9.0c compatible card / nVIDIA® GeForce™ 9800 GTX / ATI Radeon® HD 4850

As you know, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. has a tweakable menu with a lot of parameters to affect the performance. So you can adjust it as you like to achieve the comfortable play. Anyway, if you want to play it in max quality and resolution, go for as powerful machine as you can - there's never enough in this case.

Sorry. Maybe work'll pick up before then.

Sorry, Games has been mostly about teen-twitter video-games so I don't check here as much. tongue

New monsters: Chimera and Burer

Yawn. They mean old monsters that were removed from the first release. I can't believe that OSG is really going to pretend that Oblivion Lost hasn't been supplying those creatures for over a year already!

At least it sounds like they've got some new maps this time instead of just reusing the old ones.

Aw, he's no fun, he fell right over.

Unless you become as little children, there's no way you will believe this crap.

I'm not sure what 'teen-twitter video-games' are, but I suppose Gaming isn't as exciting as the latest 'Rasslin' with Res' in MT. Wait... it's more fun, and better for forgetting one's troubles, too. tongue tongue

I wouldn't know without moneyz for buying games, but I'll take your word. Maybe they didn't play nice under version 1, e.g. walked up and purred when theyz s'posed to eat your face while you slept, or yuzzhly morphed into kittycats. big_smile

At least it sounds like they've got some new maps this time instead of just reusing the old ones.

And don't forget teh new prett3h, with at least a GTS 250- er, 9800GTX- a reasonable min. And I'll watch a half hour of Fox blech if it's not on CryEngine 2. Habits and biz arrangements die hard.
