Snow Leopard upgrade
One Question......Can I upgrade from 10.4( Tiger ) to 10.6 (snow Leopard)????

You can as long as you have an Intel Core 2 processor, but you have to pay the full $130.
I was asking a similar question about the MacBook Air.

but that $130 won't be just for Snow Leo, it also includes the latest version of iWork & iLife along with the latest release of the Leo.

Yeah. You can only install if you have Tiger if you get the Mac Box set.

Really? Previous stand alone editions of OS X didn't include the mac software bundles.

Yea, updates to the next version of iWork and iLife have been separate purchases. So is this part of the rumormill?

Yep, I'm bummed about this. I want to upgrade my Mac Pro from Tiger to Snow Leopard, but I've already splashed out for iWork09 and have absolutely no need for iLife. Grrrrr.
Am I gonna be paying extra for those things?

You can either look at it like they're throwing in iLife & iWork in for free at the normal retail price.
Or you are paying saving $40 on the box set.
Or if you insist you'll be paying extra iLife & iWork to the tune of $29 less than they normally cost together but are getting Snow Leopard for free.
Or if you factor out the $29 for the Snow Leopard cost Leopard users get you are being charged $100 dollars for them which is $29 less than the OS X retail cost, $29 less than Snow Leopard Mac Box Set cost, $69 less than the Leopard Mac Box Set cost, and $59 off what iLife & iWork cost together.
If you base costs on a proportional model, separate software under Leopard is $129 + $79 + $79 = $287; the Leopard Mac Box Set is ~$75.96 + ~$46.52 + ~$46.52 = $169; and the Snow Leopard Mac Box Set is ~$57.98 + ~$35.51 + ~$35.51 = $129.

IIRC, it also works with Core (Solo and Duo) and of course, Xeon processors. The Core was 32 bot, not 64 bit, so some of Snow Leopard's appeal will be lost. But then, if you don't have more than about 3.5 gigabytes of RAM, 64 bit is kind of a waste anyway.

I'm so confused. Is the Snow Leopard box set the same cost as Leopard was on its release? If so, that is fine. I am happy to pay for the full upgrade cost to Snow Leopard, just don't want to pay extra for iLife and iWork.
If the Box Set is US$129, that is pretty decent.

You have to buy the entire bundle, whether you like it or not for $169 from what I've read, and whether you already bought iLife. Although Amazon and other places are selling the same box set for $130.

It's funny you say that. I find that apple.com hangs on Safari for me. I can get there from Firefox, but not (all the time) from Safari. Huh.

OK, Thanks for all the replies I received......I got the $29.00 Snow Leopard and upgraded my imac. Still learning things, like what programs WILL NOT work with 10.6. Another problem....After installing Snow Leopard, ALL my NOTES are now in my e-mail inbox. Da, anyone know what happen......If I delete one from the email, it also deletes from the NOTES...........Any ideas ????
