Re: apple logo's

They hide it because they don't want to "advertise" Apple for free.

I've noticed this lately. But not just Apple, Dell and others, too.
No idea why - reverse product placement?

Don't quite see what this has to do with Everyday Tech, though?

Unless...

The key you're looking for has an upwards pointing arrow on it instead of the word "Shift". roll

Re: apple logo's

Because if you don't get paid to use the logo as product placement, you have to pay to use the logo - you need permission.

Same reason sitcom characters always say "tissue" instead of "kleenex."

And the reverse is true - the manufacturer must (typically) pay for that product placement. I wasn't aware a show/movie/whatever had to pay for the privilege of using a certain product however.

No they don't. As said, it's usually because they don't want to give away free advertising.

If you watch Mythbusters you can see it pretty clearly - brands that don't pay to appear on the show get their labels covered with a photocopy of the Mythbusters logo. Brands that do are shown clearly.
