Re: R.I.P. Michael Jackson?

A later report had Jackson upbeat, no pun, about the comeback. I would't know, so any speculation of mine is just that. I have no real opinion, let 'lone an informed one there... OTOH,

LOS ANGELES - Michael Jackson's family wants a private autopsy of the pop icon because of unanswered questions about how he died and the doctor who was with him, the civil rights leader Rev. Jesse Jackson said Saturday.

"It's abnormal," he told The Associated Press from Chicago a day after visiting the Jackson family. "We don't know what happened. Was he injected and with what? All reasonable doubt should be addressed."

People close to Jackson have said since his death that they were concerned about the superstar's use of painkillers. Los Angeles County medical examiners completed an autopsy Friday and said Jackson had taken prescription medication.

Medical officials also said there was no indication of trauma or foul play. An official cause of death could take weeks.
..

Moving vans also showed up at the Jackson home, leaving about an hour later. There was no indication what they might have taken away.

Sharpton: Family considers commemoration
The Rev. Al Sharpton said Saturday he had spoken with Michael Jackson's brothers Jackie and Jermaine and plans to meet with the family Sunday at their request. The family is considering a series of simultaneous global celebrations and other ideas as they decide how to commemorate the life of the King of Pop, he says.

Sharpton says the family is frustrated that so much of the media attention has focused on Michael Jackson's problems. They want to make sure he's remembered for his spectacular contributions to music and culture.
..

Jackson never communicated to his family who he had in place to handle his business affairs, the person said, adding that they were told by the singer’s phalanx of advisers that he likely had a will, but it may be many years old. The family is distrustful of what they are being told — but they are determined to find out more, the person said.

“There are decisions going down without the family being in the loop; it’s becoming an issue,” the person said.

Randy Phillips, AEG Live president and chief executive, said earlier Friday that it was Jackson who insisted that Dr. Conrad Murray, a financially troubled cardiologist who was with the entertainer when he collapsed Thursday, be put on the tour payroll.

'Financially troubled' cardiologist? Al Sharpton? 'Simultaneous global celebrations?' This is turning into as much of a circus as any part of his life ever was. Trying to refocus attention that way, his family will take away any modicum of dignity his end might have left him. Let off the spin, folks, you're only making things worse.

That won't happen, tho. Joe Jackson always was a control freak.

Hated his music very much but the dude has immense talent, no doubt about it. He opened the doors for others who could dance ONLY, looked good, but otherwise, had ZERO musical talent (Brittney Spears, Backstreet Boys, etc.).

The dude is weird at best and a pedophile at worst. See ya - Ferrah death is more compelling due to the fact it was not brought on by her self as I'm sure we will find out soon that Michael's death probably involved drugs.

but his personal physician stated there were no drugs.. errr i mean he stated the two drugs in question were not onboard.

and we know a personal physicians integrity is above questioning eh?
we all look forward to the "closed" and "private" autopsy findings.

Are you not assuming? Last time I looked you where not in his house to know the real facts. People are very money hungry. If one person yells he did so and so to my child, others will play follow the leader and say "ya... he did it to my child also" just to get money from a superstar. Adults can be very greedy, and if physiologists can get greater fame for themselves they may ask questions to get a child say what they want to hear.
Parents are very influential to their child, and can get children to say what they want them to say. Kids want approval and love from their parents and will do things just to please their parents.
Combine the two and you get a media frenzy and a star who just wants to end the craziness and ciaos.

While I agree that Ferrah should have gotten more coverage then she did since she went through a lot for a longer time and was very strong through it (watched the special on her). While I also was not a big Michael fan, Isn't it presumptuous to say "Michael's death probably involved drugs."?

The media rarely has good things to say about anybody and always focusing on the worst, and even worse some people get sucked into "the news programs/reporters" are always right and not taking this type of coverage with a grain of salt.

example: "The dude is weird at best and a pedophile at worst." and "

Re: R.I.P. Michael Jackson?

If you think MJ had no musical talent, you are wrong, wrong, wrong.  That smurfer could sing! The pairing of MJ with producer Quincy Jones was one of the best things that ever happened in the history of pop music. Although, I know what you're saying re Backstreet Boiz, et al.

Personally, I don't believe the pedophilia stories. I think he was targeted by people who saw this very eccentric man and thought they could make a bunch of money off him. I think it's a shame that he was convicted by a public who knew nothing of the cases.

Farrah's story is tragic, but apart from having one of the best selling posters of all time, she really didn't do anything to change the face of an industry (except for possibly the hair styling industry of the 1970s).

Re: R.I.P. Michael Jackson?

I'm not sure that MJ was a pedobear at all. I figure his young life was absorbed by show business, and he wanted to reclaim it as an adult. That would definitely explain the Neverland ranch. Sure, it's pretty weird to have a bunch of unrelated kids running around your house as an adult, but you get the impression that MJ wasn't really an "adult" - even when he died. He's always had handlers, and has never really shouldered responsibility.

I suspect a lot of this pedo crap came from parents who saw a big, fat wallet ripe for the picking.

OK so we got no proof he had sex with the boys -just shelled out a lot of "STFU money", and admitted to sharing his bed with them.

Looking at the respective bodies of work of Quincy Jones and Jackson, I'd agree that it was a fortuitous meeting, but to me, Mr. Jones brought a HELL of a lot more to the table.
Jackson was no doubt talented, but a tad overrated-musically.
Excellent dancer and excellent media hog.

Re: R.I.P. Michael Jackson?

Whatever, I am not here to defend Michael Jackson or to change anyone's predetermined notions about him.  He was a huge influence on American popular music, as were Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley before him.

He is an icon of an era and was tremendously talented. You don't have to like him and you don't have to like his music, you have to at least give him that.

And 50 years old is way too young to die.

This can go both ways, Quincy could not do what he did without a talent like Michael Jackson. Don't think he was "tad overrated-musically" at all. He had a whole lot of talent. Don't know where you get he was a media hog, he was always hidden away.

Re: R.I.P. Michael Jackson?

There's an 'inaccurate' autopsy report making the rounds- the Sun, the NY Post etc. US mag quotes the LA coroner's office to that effect.

The Los Angeles coroner's office on Monday dismissed as inaccurate a British newspaper report that said Michael Jackson was emaciated and almost bald when he died suddenly last week.

Jackson, who died June 25 after suffering cardiac arrest at the age 50, weighed just 112 pounds, was bald and badly disfigured at the time of his death, according to leaked results from an autopsy.

Britain's The Sun obtained a copy of the report, which claimed Jackson's face bore numerous scars as a result of 13 cosmetic operations. The bridge of Jackson's nose had disappeared and the right side had caved in, according to the paper. Jackson also reportedly had unexplained bruises on his knees and shins and bruising to his back, indicating a recent fall.

It'll be a few weeks before those other tests are in and results released, I guess, but plenty like this. Got tabloids to move, trees to kill.

Re: R.I.P. Michael Jackson?

The Feds are getting into it.

..

Following Jackson's death, allegations emerged that the 50-year-old King of Pop had been consuming painkillers, sedatives and antidepressants.

The federal agency can provide resources and experience in investigating drug abuse, illicit drug manufacturers known as "pill mills" and substances local police may not be familiar with, the official said.

Also Wednesday, a plan to bury Michael Jackson at his sprawling Neverland ranch collapsed, leaving details about his funeral undecided. Another mystery was solved: His newly unveiled will says his mother should raise his children, or failing her, Diana Ross.

The changing funeral circumstances thwarted many Jackson fans who had descended on the estate in the rolling hills near Santa Barbara with the hope of attending a public viewing.

You seem really upset about all of this--and that's cool, but I think it should be pointed out that people really do settle cases and pay out money in situations where they don't feel responsible and where the law would likely find for them.  Happens all the time.

The notion that "ANY" person would do this or that in such a situation is pretty baseless.

I'm not a fan of MJ's music and I think it's quite possible that he engaged in inappropriate conduct with children--but I wouldn't say a settlement is great evidence of that (given the fact that he was rich and what the accusation alone would have done).
