Governor Pawlenty has said that he will sign Franken's certificate of election if the Minnesota Supreme Court decides in his favor. So at the very least, Franken should now be seated in the senate whether Coleman wants to appeal to the federal courts or not.

C'mon, its not even July, surely the GOP can drag this out for another month or two.

They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew.

"The Supreme Court has made its decision and I will abide by the results," Coleman told reporters outside his St. Paul home.
Coleman, appearing relaxed and upbeat, said he had congratulated Franken, was at peace with the decision and had no regrets about the fight, which started almost immediately after the Nov. 4 election.
"Sure I wanted to win," said Coleman, who called the ruling a surprise. "I thought we had a better case. But the court has spoken."
He declined to talk about his future plans, brushing aside a question about whether he would run for governor in 2010.

It's a bit more complicated than that. He won the initial count remember and then it's gets to be a pile of bs from both sides about what's getting counted and what isn't.
They have got to fix this smurfing election smurf. The damn count shouldn't change. I don't care who wins, it shouldn't take months to figure it out.

Part of it seems to be the ability to demand recounts only for specific areas rather than an overall recount.
Frankly I don't get what's so goddamned complicated about casting and counting votes. They can even do it in the goddamned Congo, for Chrissakes.
