Re: Psystar "Meta Update"
I wouldn't buy that because they said they're bankrupt which is a clear indicator that they won't be able to honor any warranty.

Re: Psystar "Meta Update"
Every time I contemplate Psystar, I think of the used Umax C600 I once purchased. I immediately returned it when I discovered that, despite its being a fully licensed and authorized Mac clone, upgrades and repairs and even simple OS installs were going to involve all manner of arcane tinkering and troubleshooting. I can't help but think that on an unlicensed, unauthorized, probably illegal Mac clone, the problems could potentially be much worse.

Re: Psystar "Meta Update"
They've been reorganizing. Whether they're ready to come out of it and resume operations, and if so for how long, is iffy. Many thought the bankruptcy move was to evade the Apple suit if possible.
I sure woudn't send them any money anytime soon, that's sure.

Re: Psystar "Meta Update"
..
According to AppleInsider, a week ago Apple won its motion to have the temporary stay in the case lifted. That ruling released the automatic freeze on any court proceedings that followed when Psystar filed for Chapter 11 in May.
So really there was no longer any point for the Mac clone maker to stay in Chapter 11, as that was not going to offer any further protection from Apple's lawsuit. We think that Psystar will ask the bankruptcy court to dismiss its case, and that the court will likely grant that dismissal.
So now Psystar has come up with a new "Mac" clone. The Open(7) sports a quad core Nehalem processor, a maximum of 12GB RAM and lots of other options, coming in at $1,499.99 for the base configuration. Psystar will pre-install Apple's Mac OS X Leopard at no additional cost, to Apple's continuing annoyance.
It will come with a Darwin Universal Boot Loader, which is a graphical bootloader similar to Chameleon 2.0 with full Mac OS X and XNU support. µ
