oil resistant screen?
I noticed that the new iPhone 3GS is †outed as having an oil resistant screen, thatʻs new huh? Because I donʻt remember that being available on my current iphone 3G. I know itʻs too early, but if any of you get the new GS, could you post and let me know how good the new oil resist screen is? Thanks for reading my request, and happy iPhoning!!!

Well, if you happen to dive into an oil slick from a ship, I wouldn't think it would help much. I think this is an incremental improvement if it's a real improvement at all.

Re: oil resistant screen?
OK, this thread might be zombified, but I just saw the new 3GS and the screen really is nice. I tried my best to grease up the screen with my fingerprints and nothing stuck to the screen, cool. Oh, and the new video camera is handy, the CPU seems faster, digital compass seemed interesting, and I was told all the 3G cases and equipment was compatible, also all cool. Overall, I have to give the new 3GS a thumbs up

Kevin is not kidding when he talks about his "Portuguese grease" fingers! I've seen some of his glossy gadgets in the past and can testify to the fingerprints and smudges.

y'now, I completely forgot to check. I peeled off the factory plastic and stuck on an Invisible shield. It certainly didn't look like anything special

The screen is great. A quick wipe and it's nice and clean. It doesn't smudge easily.

Do you find it any more susceptible to scratches? I currently have a screen cover on my 3GS because I read a bunch of posts in Apple's discussion forums about people finding scratches on their 3GS screens. The speculation was that the oleophobic coating was actually scratching. So I'm using the cover until I get a more definitive answer. I used my 3G for about the past 6 months with no screen cover and preferred it.

I keep mine in it's own pants pocket with no protective cover. So far, no scratches.

That's where I keep mine and always kept my 3G. I also use this case:
