Freeze at Parition
I'm trying to run Battlefield 2 on my macbook, more info on that here : http://www.maclife.com/forums/topic/112122
Here's where I'm at right now :
1 .Opened up Bootcamp
2. Ran partition
3. Error - can't move files, please wipe and format and try again
4. repaired utilities
4. Ran paritition
5. macbook hung up and froze
Worried about starting partition again.
Should I try using time machine to back up my files and start again?

Re: Freeze at Parition
Try an actual Win 7 RC1 from MS? It requires signing up and getting a product key, but that's not hard. I think it's 2.7~2.8GB, not 3+. Might be have malware involved otherwise, especially the bogus RTMs on torrents everywhere.
Just sayin'.
Also make sure Boot Camp is up to date. Offhand I'm not sure Boot Camp officially supports 7, as it's not RTM yet let alone final. Books?

Re: Freeze at Parition
I downloaded the official one with the product key from windeos, but the drive partition is like the first step in boot camp so I don't even know what happens after that.. I'll check the version and try again.

Books uses BC with 7, I think, so has experience I lack- but if he's occupied I'll try doping it out as soon as I've time.

Re: Freeze at Parition
So far:
System requirements
To use Boot Camp with Mac OS X 10.5 you need the following:
An Intel-based Mac
A Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard installation disc. This can be either a Mac OS X Leopard disc included with a purchased copy of Leopard, or a Mac OS X Install Disc 1 from a Mac that had Leopard preinstalled
A USB keyboard and mouse, or a built-in keyboard and trackpad
At least 10 GB of free space on the disk you’re installing on (for Microsoft Windows and Windows-based applications)
Boot Camp Assistant, which is installed by Leopard in (/Applications/Utilities/)
As well as Microsoft Windows:
An authentic, 32-bit Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition or Professional with Service Pack 2 or Service Pack 3 disc
or
An authentic, 32-bit Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, or Ultimate disc
or
With some Mac Pro or MacBook Pro computers, an authentic, 64-bit Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, or Ultimate disc
See this article for more information.
Important: For a Windows XP installation, your Microsoft Windows XP installation disc must include Service Pack 2 (SP2) or Service Pack 3 (SP3). Boot Camp 2.1 must be installed prior to upgrading Windows XP to Service Pack 3 (SP3) or Windows Vista to Service Pack 1 (SP1).

No mention of 7, you need BC 2.1, and only some Macs support even XP/Vista 64. <-> http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1888
Since you can have both, maybe Win7/32 is a better bet. More digging indicated.

Re: Freeze at Parition
Google w/ 'Apple Boot camp win 7' turns up about 681,000 results. Might want to try adding 'RC1' to the criteria.
