Real life, put in your pocket cash or in-game gold?
Real life cash takes hours and hours getting levels, prime gear and then ebaying the account.

Not that Blizzard can do much to stop it, but selling your account (whether by eBay or whatever) is much frowned upon by Blizzard. Why this is so can be illustrated by what happened to a friend of mine in WoW: his account was hacked into and his two high-level characters were moved to other servers where those accounts were sold. My friend's account and characters were eventually recovered--I do not know what happened to the people who bought them--but I can easily imagine that Blizzard wouldn't want the headaches involved in sorting this out.
I can imagine that there are others who go the other route: sell an account to someone, then claim to Blizzard that someone had hacked that account so he can recover it.

Argent Tournament dailies...great way to get about 200G a day + earn rewards. My current money maker involves them but I won't give away my trade secrets.
Other folks, alchemy and jewelcrafting they say is pretty lucrative at times. I'll admit alch was real easy and cheap to max out since I wasn't in a rush on it. Just did a transmute a day from mats my miner supplied and I got up high enough to do the final flasks. Then it was just making flasks for my main and I was at 450 in no time.
Rest of stuff seems to require you to have enough capital to buy the mats to do it.

Ugh! Wow is such a joke when it comes to making gold. And what people don't understand is why; because gold does not get you gear - skill does.

To reiterate my statement...
Gathering professions. Particularly, skinning/mining while leveling. Also, do not take up First Aid, as you can sell all the cloth.
Get an addon that sells all your junk items automatically when visiting a vendor also.
