cry Installed an Epson CX9400 printer/fax machine. I love it but I am trying to print some items that have bar codes. Because the way this Epson was set up for me the printer/fax machine keeps track of EVERYTHING on my iMAC I send to the printer/fax.

This setting does not allow me to print these items. I have installed/uninstalled and this still does not seem to work.

When I look at my print list it shows an endless list of items I have printed or faxed. I can show or hide the print list. Is there any EASY way for a non Apple Technical person to change the settings so that this will work? Epson has said that I should contact Apple. Because I am disabled, I just don't have the money to contact Apple support. Anyone have any easy ideas that may help?

I'm not understanding this --> Files with barcodes are not printable ? What created these files ?

One common debugging method involves adding a new user account and printing from there, but never mind that for now.

I presume that its not convenient for you to travel to an Apple Retail Store. True ?

WOW - THANKS! Here is a link to one of the sites. Just trying to print grocery coupons so I can save what little $ I have.

Instructions from them below

Right click on the printer
you want to print with
and select "Set as
Default Printer".

Make sure the Printer is not offline.
On the "Advanced" tab, make sure "Keep printed documents" is not checked.

The nearest Apple store is almost 60 miles away :-(

Those instructions are for MS Windows.

There's a MacCoupon printer software. Are you using it ? See the "print now" at the bottom of the screen. It may download the installer which is inside a DMG. (DMG's open as white rectangular icons in the Finder.)

NOTE: I've never heard of MacCoupon and it is NOT on the key site Macupdate.com. Install at your own risk.

I don't have a direct link to MacCoupon software yet.

Thanks again. I did try that. That does not work either. Still get the same response from this website and other's. "It appears "Blah, Blah, Blah, Yadda, Yadda, Yadda". Appreciate the quick reply. Just trying to save some money :-(

Beginning to REALLLLLY hate this printer and some of it's settings..................

I still suspect that the software will function, but as for myself, I can't risk a production machine with that download.

What city are you in ? I might be able to locate a cheap or free consultant for you.

I just tried it out and it worked fine.

Two possible stumbling blocks:
1) I had to restart my browser for it to recognize the new driver
2) You have to be connected to the internet for authorization to print.

The second one seems a little "well, duh. I'm at a website downloading coupons" but I ran into it because I block all unapproved in/out network traffic with Little Snitch and it warned me that the Coupon Printer was calling home. If you're running some sort of traffic manager or even virus protection, you may have to give special access to the coupon printer program.

Little Snitch was popping up about every hour telling me that that coupon printer was trying to make network connections. I promptly uninstalled that garbage. There's gotta be better ways to get coupons, no?

I question how much you save in the long run when you calculate ... paper... ink... wear & tear on the printer... your time ... cost of item vs cost of a generic / competitor's product... cost of item vs would you have purchaced it had it not had a coupon ...

But thats just me

Because Pottymouth said he's tried the MacCoupon software from The Coupon Mom site, and it's worked for him (meaning nothing wrong with the software), I'm wondering if an updated driver for your Espon would do the trick.

Are you using Leopard (Mac OSX version 10.5)?
