Halo Legends - a nice overview
Gravemind noticed an article at IGN with an in-depth look at Halo Legends. It answers a lot of questions about the project - you should definitely read it before jumping into your favorite fan hangout and asking for a lot of info. (Louis Wu 15:21:00 UTC)

It looks like the Q&A kicked off by Frankie yesterday afternoon might be over; he was still answering questions this morning, but I haven't seen anything in the past several hours. I'm sort of confused about what this actually is.
On GameTrailers they say it's an XBox Live Arcade game, but the trailer seems to insinuate that it will be an anime series.
I'm hoping it's the latter.

Should be at least mostly awesome. I hope it sells REALLY well so Bungie et al make more.

Having read the articles, it looks good to me overall. I'd suggest both.
It's an anime series, 7 parts (one in halves for length reasons) ranging from one OTT ep for kids and their 'rents to polished CGI stuff. Frankie says, tho, except for the wacky fun ep, it's all canonical. 'Fact, he wrote most of the plot outlines and some of the scripts.
It'll be free to watch (streaming) for Gold subs in limited time windows. Early next year it'll come out on DVD and BD (mostly for the CGI, I guess. Don't really need H.264 for cartoons).
What I'm really looking forward to, beside ODST and Reach, is the Greg Bear Forerunner novel trilogy. Jackson's Chronicles game seems dead, tho I have hopes there'll be a game on those lines, or what I hoped those lines would be. You never know, and we could use a goodly break from the 2550 timeframe while future directions are fleshed out. The Halo Wars cutscenes... I'm still digesting those.

So any coincidence that Peter Jackson's movie coming out feels a little like hints of Half Life and Halo?

Still more info from Peter Jackson's camp - his manager, Ken Kamis, told the LA Times today that the Halo Chronicles project (announced at X06 almost three years ago) was killed back in January, as part of a series of Microsoft budget cuts. Ah, well. Thanks, LoneRanger 2.5. (Louis Wu 21:52:58 UTC)
