They are excellent for jumping, and are in the same family as Iguana's (though I don't know that's why they look similar or not) - though not super closely related.

Maybe a certain frog or other amphibian that normally feeds on them?

Maybe, but I don't know. Some birds eat ticks, but they go after the adults, and don't effect the number of nymphs to the point where it would be of any benefit to us or our pets.
