I had no idea. Let the spammer live!
EDIT: At first glance, I thought the title said "Warhead" as in Crysis.

I didn't know either, but I haven't exactly been following it. I thought it would probably happen eventually, though, given that EA is publishing it.

And uh-oh, Cider.
Mac WAR Beta [Jul 30, 2009, 10:43 am ET]
Mythic Entertainment announces development of a Macintosh edition of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, saying a beta of the Mac client for their MMORPG is already available for testing. This page offers the beta Macintosh client for those already subscribed to the game, as well as a 10-day free trial version for evaluation by newcomers, and word is: "As part of the WAR Mac beta event, players who participate will receive an exclusive title and trophy reward for their characters within the game." This edition requires an Intel-based Mac, as it uses TransGaming's Cider Portability Engine as a "wrapper."

Cider is good.
The kind you drink is fantastic! The other kind is simply a reflection of a sad reality: Cider is keeping Mac gaming on life support.

But that may change. As it stands, it doesn't make sense to do a native Mac port of a title unless it's a bestseller. Hopefully as Apple sells more and more machines - and each of the new models is capable of gaming (not at the highest settings, but capable) - then hopefully more developers will consider shedding MS-only technologies and consider creating Mac/PC versions simultaneously like Blizzard.
It is an odd thing, but every one who disappears is said to be seen at San Francisco. It must be a delightful city, and possess all the attractions of the next world.

Re: Warhammer Online Mac Beta!!!! Out now!
Hopefully- and Aspyr still does one now and again- but there's a problem there that is too easily forgotten.
The grfx options need to be low[ered] in part because of the AIOs. Despite sometimes-decent horsepower, they tend to have screens too large for good gaming. A 4850 is pretty decent, but paired with a 1920x1200 display, it's a bit weak for the more modern titles. Etc.
