Accessing cable modem
When I try to access my cable modem (http://192.168.100.1/) Safari tells me it can't open the page because the network connection was reset. Firefox will access it for a few seconds, then tells me the connection was lost while loading the page. I'm accessing the able modem through a router, so I suspect the problem has something to do with the router since it shows up regardless of which computer I'm using. Any ideas on what it might be with the router causing this problem?
Other than the modem access, everything work fine (i'm using the connection right now).

Re: Accessing cable modem
Most instructions manuals that I have read confirm your description. The router is indeed in the way of the connection to your modem.
Anywho there is nothing wrong with your modem or router.
Simple solution is to remove the router and make a direct ethernet cable connection from a computer to the modem. Sometimes connecting to the WAN port rather than the LAN port is required to access a modem with messed up settings.

Re: Accessing cable modem
I just tried connecting the modem directly to one of my machines, and even then neither Firefox nor Safari could access the Modem. So, just for experimentations sake, I decided to see what happens with another browser. I downloaded Opera, and lo & behold I can access the modem without any problems using it. Which now leads to the question what is wrong with Safari & Firefox that they can't do a simple access to http://192.168.100.1/ while Opera can?
