Update Office 12.2.0 to 12.2.1 issue
Today I used the Microsoft AutoUpdate application to update my Office 2008 install from 12.1.x to 12.2.0 and that went fine.
Then I used the AutoUpdate application to update from 12.2.0 to 12.2.1 and I got this error at the stage to select the destination.
"You cannot install Office 2008 12.2.1 Update on this volume. A version of the software required to install this update was not found on this volume.
To learn how to fix this issue, see "I can't install Office 2008 for Mac updates" at http://www.microsoft.com/mac/help.mspx."
There is no info at that URL to fix this issue
WTF!!!
The first update had no problem with my install.
Anybody have a fix for this issue?
My installation is in the default location
/Applications/Microsoft Office 2008
and nothing has been modified by me
Microsoft may need to improve it's update procedures.
I tried posting this at the Mactopia forums but they are broken today and are not allowing posts..........

Re: Update Office 12.2.0 to 12.2.1 issue
I had this same problem last week, unable to update to Office 12.2.1 with exactly the same error, and couldn't find any answers on the internet. I just resigned myself to saying, "Well, guess I won't update, then."
Then this week, I ran a software update for the Mac OS (updating to 10.5.8). Afterward, I wondered if this might help the Microsoft update, and tried the 12.2.1 update again. It worked!
So, try running the latest update on your Mac OS and see if it helps.
